1st Call for Proposals for Applicable Research & Development Projects in Life Sciences

EIT+ announces the first Call for Proposals for projects in the Life Sciences with emphasis in novel research and potential drug (and biopharmaceutical) development in the fields of CNS; Autoimmune Diseases; Cancer; Cardiology; Endocrinology; Diabetes as well as Diagnostics and Medical Devices. In addition, applications in agriculture with relation to human health are also welcomed.
Wroclaw Research Centre EIT+ Ltd. (EIT+), established in 2007, is a unique undertaking in Poland, dedicated to nurture innovation and applicable research results originating from academia and early stage spin-off companies, among other domains, in the Life Sciences domain. EIT+ support is aimed at the development of innovative state of the art technologies, enhances the competitive power of the industry in the high-tech global market and creates employment opportunities.
Applicants are expected to develop market-driven solutions for products, technology-based services or methods which have strong worldwide market potential.
Submission of the project proposals
Scientists and Researchers from academia are invited to submit project proposals using EIT+ forms no later than May 14th , 2012. Forms must be filled in English, signed and sent via email to maciej.wierzbicki@eitplus.pl.
The eligibility of each application will be analyzed by EIT+ staff. Applicants may be contacted by staff of EIT+ within two weeks to refine the definitive projects.

Evaluation and selection of the projects
EIT+ staff will carry out an evaluation process of the received projects, including external revisions if necessary, and will select the suitable projects to be financially supported. EIT+ intends to inform on the decision within 60 days as of the receiving of the application.
EIT+ will sign with the scientist and its academic institution (or such other entity to which the scientist is affiliated with) a contract containing the details of the conditions and the terms of the financial support that will be granted as well as the rules for eligibility of costs and procedures for technical and financial reports.
Financial support of the projects
The total budget of the Call is up to 5 000 000 PLN. Maximum number of 10 projects will be qualified for receiving the financial support.
The process of commercialization including engaging a business partner will be finally performed and coordinated by EIT+.
